iNANO researcher receives AUFF talent prize
Congratulations to postdoc Ane Bretschneider Søgaard for receiving the Aarhus University Research Foundation’s talent prize.
The Aarhus University Research Foundation’s (AUFF) talent prize is awarded to new PhD graduates whose exceptional work and ability to communicate their results have garnered extraordinary recognition. This year, one of the five recipients is Ane Bretschneider Søgaard, a member of iNANO.
First awarded in 2003 to commemorate the university’s 75th anniversary, the AUFF prize was presented on Wednesday, May 28th, in the Main Hall.
Ane, who holds a master’s degree in molecular biology, emphasizes the interdisciplinary nature of her academic journey. In an interview, she shared that during her second semester, she enrolled in a course at the Department of Chemistry and continued her bachelor's project in a medicinal chemistry lab. This experience allowed her to apply her molecular biology expertise in innovative and diverse ways, enabling her to be involved in every step of the process — from conceptualizing ideas to designing chemical structures and subsequently evaluating them in cellular systems
After earning her PhD in Nanoscience under the supervision of Professor Alexander Zelikin, she continued her research as a postdoctoral researcher in his group. Ane’s focus is on artificial biology, where she employs an engineering approach to develop artificial receptors as innovative functionalities and methodologies applied to cellular systems. These advancements hold significant promise for the development of future biotechnological or biomedical techniques.
